Day two of Spyder Tech School was more hands on than the first day. Once again, we went through some of the things that I've always wanted to know more about but, to be honest, sounded a little scary reading it in the book. There's just nothing like picking up the tools and doing it.

This past weekend, the largest BRP gathering of roadsters ever assembled made the journey to Maggie Valley, N.C., to partake in the fourth-annual North American Can-Am Spyder Owners Event.

As most of you know by now, I love to take things apart, see how they work and make improvements to fit my personal needs or wants. The Spyder was one of the first machines that I would say somewhat intimidated me.

Heading into the inaugural Ontario Roadster Rally, event organizers weren’t quite sure what to expect. With loads of rain in the forecast, it was possible that many riders would choose to skip the event entirely. Then, the organizers remembered something. This wasn’t any regular old motorcycle rally. This was a Spyder roadster rally.

I had the joy of a 3-day Memorial Day weekend to kick off Spyder ownership. To me there is nothing better than lots of friends, good food (that other people help prepare!) and the freedom to enjoy whatever activities fit the day. Come along for the ride!

The 29th Annual Americade Rally in Lake George, New York, attracted approximately 40,000 touring riders to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains area.Though the demos didn’t open until 8:00 each morning, by 6:30 people were already lining up.

BRP designers revealed the trophies for the 2011 edition of the Formula One Grand Prix du Canada during last weekend’s chaotic race featuring some of the best drivers in the world competing on Montreal’s rain-soaked track.

I got on the road in mid-morning, headed up 65 for Louisville where I’d hit 64 and onto home. Along the way I passed things that it killed me to miss, but I figured I had pushed my luck as far as any sane person ever should.

This week’s lucky winner is Jackie (Jacqueline) Drew from Staten Island, New York. A mother of four, and married for 22 years, Jackie is loving life. She is a clerical worker with the NYPD who used to work in the World Trade Center building.
