After Lamont's BBQ, my Dad and I made the ride from Mosheim, Tennessee to Maggie Valley. We arrived in the early evening, with just enough time to put the stuff down in the hotel and head back out to explore.

All in all, I came away from the weekend with my preconceived notions solidified: the Spyder community is made up of some amazing people, from the top down. Fun, helpful, kind, generous, passionate and supportive; not only of the Spyder but each other.

The Spyder owner’s event recently held in Maggie Valley, North Carolina was a special weekend for me, for a number of reasons. I finally met a bunch of the folks from Spyderlovers.com and thanked them in person for their warm reception and the invitation to join their community.

Last week I decided I must be going a little crazy. Ever have one of those moments that make you just shake your head at yourself? But wait, I’m getting a little ahead of my story. Let me back up.

About a month ago we asked our fans why the Spyder makes an awesome everyday vehicle. We received so many great responses, and had the privilege of interviewing one of the chosen 2009 Spyder Ambassadors, Gene Schmidt!

The next day, after breakfast with my family (they had traveled to Auburn as well, to see Julie and visit Niagara Falls), Julie and I set out with three others friends to take the Cayuga Lake Wine Tour. In true "rerouted" fashion, we lost the list of wineries we were supposed to travel to by our first gas stop, minutes after we left Auburn.

How far would you go for a perfect date with the person you love? Well, I just rode 1,200 miles round trip for a weekend in wine country with my girlfriend Julie, in the Fingerlakes Region of upstate New York.

The classes got harder as expected, but Wednesday was the reality check for me. I realized how little I knew about the Spyder and that I had just jumped from junior high school to college.
